Songwriting, technique, performance, creativity, etc. all at the highest level and combine to make a landmark album that is brilliant and permanently engaging. I've listened to this since I came across it almost 30 years ago, and will continue to listen to it for however long I'm still kicking around this planet. There may be other players who eclipsed Leo's technical proficiency, or compose more complex musical pieces, but my opinion is that none have ever put together a timeless album of songs like this. Most great guitarists are lucky if they compose one or two landmark songs during their careers and this album has four by my count (Ojo, Jack Fig, Vaseline Machine Gun, The Fisherman). Not to mention the fact that Leo's rhythmic genius comes through with what he plays on the strings, not all kinds of banging and knocking on the guitar that have become so prevalent since Hedges (and at that, never again done as well as by Hedges). This is an essential album for anyone who appreciates the acoustic guitar or just music in general.
