Description
Product Description Join The String Cheese Incident as they take a look back at the epic New Year's Eve celebration of 2000. "Evolution" examines the creativity, spirit, and hard work that goes into making a night of magical music and adventure. The film goes behind the scenes of "2001: A String Cheese Odyssey" to capture the unique nature of a New Year's Eve show. Using a collection of rare footage and interviews with band members, event producers, and audience members, "Evolution" offers insight into the driving force behind The String Cheese Incident, as well as a retrospective examination of the band from its beginnings. Songs: Rollover, Shine, Rhythm of the Road, Indian Creek, Search, Sand Dollar, Joyful Sound (with Dr. Didg), Kidney in a Cooler (with Keller Williams Howard). Amazon.com Forget any pejorative definition of "jam band" you've ever heard and do yourself a favor: buy this DVD right now, make space for it on your shelf (preferably next to Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense), and play it as often as possible. You needn't be a Deadhead or a Phish-phile to appreciate the String Cheese Incident's multi-ethnic blend of eclectic styles and feel-good vibes, originating from Colorado, rooted in bluegrass, and transmitting to the world via this warmly hypnotic concert, captured on December 31, 2000, in Portland, Oregon. Informative interviews with band members and show producers are smoothly blended with SCI's onstage modus operandi, which invites audience immersion in a communal experience of music, dance, and light. Guest appearances by Steel Pulse and Keller Williams are delightful, the bonus tracks are sweet, and the 5.1-channel sound is perfect. It's virtually impossible to be in a bad mood while watching this DVD--what more could you ask? --Jeff Shannon

I can't believe all the whiners that gave this one star. I've had this DVD for years and have seen it numerous times and still enjoy it every time I see it. I'm a Dead-vet with more than 60 shows under my belt, and say without hesitation that SCI brings it on a nightly basis better than the Dead did for the last 15 years of Jerry's life. I realize this is blasphemy in many people's book, but we're all entitled to our own opinion. I've seen SCI more than 10 times over the past 7 years and I think they're still getting better. The past couple years have been incredible! So ignore those that say that they're past they're peak and go see them the next chance you get. Until, enjoy the history and quality music on this disc! Seeing Keller Williams play "Kidney in a Cooler" is worth the price alone.
